Dashcam App with Police Report Submission
Hawk by MRVL is a dashcam app that turns your iPhone or Android into court-ready driving evidence with SHA-256 integrity hashes on every clip. On iOS, you can submit dispute exports directly to police via NDSP integration; on Android and both platforms, you can export a tamper-proof ZIP file with full manifest for any authority.
How Hawk Works as a Dashcam
Hawk runs continuously in the background, recording video to your phone's storage with cinematic optical-flow stabilisation. Every clip is sealed with an SHA-256 integrity hash, which proves the footage hasn't been edited. When something happens on the road, you tap once to lock that clip in the Evidence Locker, a biometric-protected vault that only you can open. The app writes a timestamp and GPS speed overlay to each clip (if you enable GDPR location settings), and you get a trip map replay showing exactly where each incident occurred. Unlike a subscription dashcam service, Hawk stores everything locally or, if you upgrade to Pro, syncs locked clips to your own iCloud. No data leaves your phone unless you choose to export it.
Police Report Submission and Dispute Export
On iOS, Hawk integrates with NDSP (National Driver Safety Platform) for one-tap police report submission. Simply select a locked clip, tap the export button, and submit directly to your local police force through the official channel. On Android, or if you prefer to handle submission yourself, Hawk exports a tamper-proof ZIP file containing your video clips, a SHA-256 manifest proving integrity, GPS data, and metadata. This ZIP is court-ready and accepted by insurance companies, small-claims courts, and law enforcement. You can email, upload, or hand-deliver the file to any authority or legal representative.
Evidence-Grade Security and Integrity
Every clip is sealed with SHA-256 cryptographic hashing, a standard used by forensic examiners and courts to verify video hasn't been tampered with. The hash is written at capture time and included in the export manifest, so any attempt to edit the video will break the hash and flag tampering. Your Evidence Locker uses biometric lock (face or fingerprint), which fails closed, meaning a dead battery or system failure cannot unlock it. Pro subscribers get additional protection through iCloud sync, so even if your phone is lost or stolen, locked evidence remains secure in your account. This approach is designed for daily commuters, new drivers, and rideshare operators who need proof of what happened without relying on third-party servers.
Pricing and Plans
Hawk is free to download and includes 10 clips per month with 7-day retention, which is enough to try the app and lock a few incidents. Local Pro costs £3.99 per month, £39.99 per year, or £49.99 lifetime, and unlocks unlimited recording, 90-day retention, iCloud sync for locked clips, Siri Shortcuts, and voice-save commands. Rideshare Pro is £8.99 per month or £69.99 per year, adding a cabin-facing camera, shift mode for multi-trip sessions, and passenger recording notice for drivers on Uber, Lyft, Bolt, or similar platforms. All paid tiers include police report export; iOS users get NDSP integration at no extra cost.
Rideshare and Multi-Shift Driving
If you're a rideshare driver, Rideshare Pro adds a cabin camera to record passenger interactions and a shift mode that groups multiple trips into one session, making it easy to review a full shift of evidence at once. The app still records continuously, locking individual clips as incidents happen. Passenger recording notices are displayed and can be customised to comply with local law. Combined with GPS speed overlay and tamper-proof hashing, this setup gives you complete protection on every ride.
Getting Started
Download Hawk from the App Store or Google Play and mount your phone on your dashboard using any standard phone holder. Open the app, grant camera and location permissions (location is optional but recommended for speed overlay), and tap Record. The app runs in the background, recording loops continuously to your phone's storage. When something happens, lock the clip immediately by tapping the lock icon. When you need to submit evidence, open the Evidence Locker, select your clip, and export. On iOS, you'll see the NDSP police report option; on all platforms, you can download the ZIP and send it anywhere.

Frequently asked questions
Can I submit a Hawk dashcam clip directly to the police?
On iOS, yes. Hawk integrates with NDSP for one-tap police report submission. On Android, or if you prefer manual submission, export the tamper-proof ZIP file and email it to your local police non-emergency line or upload via their evidence portal.
Is Hawk evidence accepted in court?
Yes. Every clip is sealed with SHA-256 integrity hashing, a forensic standard used in courts and insurance settlements. The export ZIP includes the manifest proving the video hasn't been edited. Insurance companies and small-claims courts accept Hawk exports as valid evidence.
Do I need a subscription to use Hawk as a dashcam?
No. Hawk is free to download and use. The free tier records 10 clips per month with 7-day retention. Pro (£39.99/yr or £49.99 lifetime) unlocks unlimited recording, 90-day retention, and iCloud sync.
What's the difference between Local Pro and Rideshare Pro?
Local Pro (£39.99/yr) is for daily commuters and covers road-facing video, iCloud sync, and police export. Rideshare Pro (£69.99/yr) adds a cabin camera, shift mode for multi-trip sessions, and passenger recording notices for rideshare drivers.
Does Hawk upload all my footage to a server?
No. Hawk stores everything locally on your phone. Pro subscribers can sync locked clips to their own iCloud account for backup, but no footage is stored on MRVL servers unless you export it manually to a third party.
Can I use Hawk on both iPhone and Android?
Yes. Hawk is available on iOS and Android. NDSP police report integration is currently available on iOS; Android users export the tamper-proof ZIP file instead.
